Have You Moved? Make Sure Your Former Bank Can Find You… Especially if You Have Money Coming

Dear Shari – Someone sent me an email of an interview you were in about foreclosures and I am writing in response. We went through foreclosure in California and now live in Missouri. It was approximately 2008 or 2009. I did send in a request to see if we had money coming within the deadline, but never heard anything. Can you please tell me what I should do now? Warm regards, Ann

Dear Ann – First, I’m sorry you had to experience something as tough as foreclosure, but it sounds as if you’ve begun a new life in another state so I hope that is going well. From the information provided I’m not sure who your lender-servicer was or which foreclosure settlement you’re referring to. What I would suggest you do is review the other questions folks in similar situations have sent in and the responses to those. There you will find websites, emails addresses and telephone numbers for the settlement administrators. I would want to be sure that – particularly because you have since moved out of state – that your mail is making its way to you. If not, you definitely want to provide your new address so that you can receive any compensation that you are entitled to. Let us know how it turns out and good luck! Shari O
